All students can learn
Students are mentored in a one-on-one setting where they are equipped with the musical skills needed to reach their musical goals and beyond.
Piano Lessons
The student-teacher relationship
The student-teacher relationship is one of the most important aspects of teaching. Students are treated with respect. They are guided to think and converse during their lessons about what they are learning. Students are encouraged to ask questions when they don't understand and to communicate how things are going at home with their playing. We have fun, laugh and learn a lot about music.
What happens at lessons?
Students learn to play the piano and read sheet music. They also explore (among other things) improvisation, music theory, warm-ups, ear training, expressive techniques and lead sheets. They will play piano during their lesson to learn music but will also use technology and games as appropriate to reinforce new concepts. They will have goal sheets that help them know what they can practice at home. The ultimate goal is to develop independence in their piano playing so they can pursue their musical interests for a lifetime.
Performance opportunities
Students have multiple opportunities to either perform live or to record performances. Students have even participated in a green screen recital where they selected custom backgrounds to accompany their performances which was a wonderful opportunity to combine video production with music performance.
Do I have to purchase any materials?
Students purchase lesson and music theory books assigned by the teacher and supplemental music that is appealing to them. This includes appropriate versions of favorite pieces students request. It is best to have a digital or acoustic piano available at home for practicing.
One-on-one weekly lessons
Piano lessons are one-on-one and held weekly from September to May with breaks for holidays. Monthly tuition is based on the number of lessons in a month times the per lesson rate.
How long are piano lessons and how much is tuition?
Safety matters
A waiting area is provided for parents to wait and the door is always open to the studio room so you can watch and listen. Students are asked to wash their hands before and after lessons as a precaution. A restroom and hand sanitizers are available.
