About Gunno Studio
Sheryl Gunno
Sheryl Gunno is a career music educator with over 30 years experience and a degree in Comprehensive K-12 Music Education. Piano is her primary instrument.
She began at Hickman Mills CSD-1 in Kansas City, MO teaching general music to K-5 students (she loves Orff). She also taught K-5 general music and grades 6-12 choir in Georgetown, OH public schools. She taught private piano lessons in her home studio maintaining 30+ students each year. Sheryl proved herself to be a teacher who cared about her students and created a positive environment where they grew.
Throughout her career, Sheryl mentored student teachers, served on curriculum writing teams and created lesson activity resources for her own use. She designed classroom decor and was a professional "bulletin board designer" in college at the Instructional Resource Center. She collaborated with fellow teachers and community members to provide musical experiences and accompanied school, church and community choirs. She worked as music director for many musicals of which her favorites were “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Little Shop of Horrors”. She planned and directed countless concerts, special events and programs.
In 2026 Sheryl transitioned from teaching to creating music resources and classroom decor. She is passionate about helping teachers create positive classroom environments and plan engaging activities for students. This moves brings her full circle back to her early career roots because that Instructional Resource Center job was her favorite job (besides teaching of course). Now you’ll find her creating with her Airedale Terrier, Coda, nearby.
How It All Started
Gunno Studio began in Georgetown, OH in 2005 in a small room off the garage with 5 students and then began again in Morgantown, WV in 2006. As a new mother at the time, Sheryl wanted to continue her career with a bit more flexibility. Sheryl’s father and grandfather started and owned their own business for over 50 years and that entrepreneurial spirit was passed on to her. She built a piano studio of 30+ students. She guided students with individualized plans that met their goals and built skills to enjoy music for a lifetime whether as a career or a hobby. Her desire to help students extended to a dream to help teachers too. In 2026 she transitioned Gunno Studio from a teaching studio to instead provide classroom decor and digital music resources to the next great teachers.
